One of the best books I’ve read in a long time. The author’s insight and perspective have given me a fresh understanding on passages in the Bible I once thought I understood. Now looking at these passages through the author's eyes, I see that was not the case. The author’s notion of ekklesia as the body of Christ and the differentiation between it and our traditional view of church has been a great source of encouragement to me, since I wrestle with not liking what I see in the institutional church in the United States, but felt there was no other way to gather and worship Jesus. It is now clear to me the Lord didn’t intend for our church/community experience to be what it is today. The author’s explanation of what it means to live our lives in Jesus, is refreshing and insightful. As the author explains, Jesus is the “Bread from Heaven” and His purpose is for us to “consume” Him so that we become “ONE” with him. If you feel lost (as I did) navigating the Christian landscape of churches and religious institutions, I would highly recommend that you read Henry Hon’s ONE book. You’ll regain your desire to seek the Lord and in the process fulfill Jesus’ John 17 prayer.
