Daily Devotional:
Scripture Focus“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.” — John 17:20–21
Reflection In His final moments before the cross, Jesus prayed for His followers—not just those present but all who would come to believe through their testimony. His greatest desire was that we would be united, reflecting the perfect oneness He shares with the Father. This oneness isn’t uniformity; it’s a deep, spiritual unity amid diverse believers that transcends cultural, social, and denominational boundaries.
When we live in this unity, we become a living testimony of God's eternal purpose. The world sees a glimpse of the love, power, and truth of God through our relationships with one another. Yet, division often hinders this witness. Whether due to doctrinal disputes, personal preferences, or cultural differences, we can lose sight of Jesus’ call to love and unity.
True unity begins with seeing one another as members of one body, each uniquely gifted yet essential. It’s not about erasing differences but embracing them as part of God’s design. Unity grows when we prioritize what binds us together—our shared faith in Jesus—over what divides us.
Application Today, take a moment to reflect on your relationships with other believers. Are there areas of division, unresolved conflict, or unforgiveness? Consider reaching out to someone you’ve been distanced from and extend a word of encouragement or reconciliation.
Prayer Father, thank You for making me a part of the body of Christ. Help me to live out the oneness that Jesus prayed for, to see others as You see them, and to embrace unity over division. Let my life reflect Your love, so the world may believe in Your Son. Amen.
